Frequent Questions About Our SEO Workshops
Do I need any experience before attending?
You don’t need any experience in online marketing or search engine positioning in order to take the basic course. For the advanced course you should have good basic SEO skills. If you don’t you might not benefit fully from the course material.
What should I bring?
Yourself and a laptop. That’s it.
What if I don’t have a laptop?
You can still come to the course. Consider renting one. They are usually readily available for reasonable rates. If you don’t have access to a laptop make sure you take lots of notes so you can work on the concepts when you get home.
Why should I take this particular course?
There are plenty of SEM/SEO training courses out there - both online and in person. Why us? We teach a proven curriculum developed by acknowledged experts in the industry. Our course material is updated constantly to reflect the latest research. Our in-person workshops allow for hands-on exercises, brainstorming sessions, question and answer sessions and networking with others in your industry. Our limited class sizes allow for lots of personal attention. We offer a personal mentoring program after class. You may also want to read testimonials from past students.
What is certification and is it important?
Certification provides proof of your skills. The Search Engine Academy, in Western Canada and other locations, has been providing certification for years. Certification from a credible source is important whether you are trying to attract your own clients or trying to find employment in the field of search engine marketing. It signifies that you have not only taken the time to learn, but your skills have been tested and verified. When you complete our training you will receive a printed certificate suitable for framing and a digital certification image that you can display on your website.
Is there a test?
Yes, there is. You must score 76% or above to pass.
What if I Don’t Pass?
You will receive a certificate of attendance and you will have a maximum of 30 days to retake the exam to earn your certificate of skills.
How do I enroll?
Simply visit our registration page for instructions. Once your payment is received your seat is reserved.
What are the costs, and what is included?
Prices start at $995 for the basic course. This includes a discount for early registration. See all current prices on the course registration page.
Do you offer tuition assistance or a payment plan?
If you cannot pay the entire cost at one time we will allow you to split it into three equal payments. Two of your payments must be complete before the course starts and your final payment is due on the first day of instruction. Contact us for more information.
Are there discounts for companies sending several people?
Yes. Large SEO firms or businesses that want to run an in-house online marketing campaign often want to send more than one person. You pay full price for your first employee and receive a 20% discount for any extra people. If you are sending more than three you may want to consider personalized in-house training .
Do you offer consulting?
Yes. We can come to your offices and teach all or part of our curriculum with a focus on your Website and your industry. The cost for these services vary depending on the competitive nature of your industry, the complexity of your site and the number of people you would like to have us train. Please contact us for consulting information and a personalized quote. Because this service requires that we undertake specialized research tailored to your situation, consulting must be booked two to three months in advance.
I’m not in Western Canada. Can I still take the course?
Definitely! You can attend our courses no matter where you live in the world as long as you have a working knowledge of the English language. Remember that travel costs and passport requirements are your responsibility. If you are located a long distance away we may be able to help you find Search Engine Academy training closer to your home.
Do you provide help with job placement?
While we’re not a placement agency we are happy to provide some assistance. We provide links to some SEO job postings We also have relationships with SEO firms who are hiring. Some have expressed specific interest in hearing from our students. We will pass along information on these opportunities as they arise.
Is business attire expected?
No. Please wear clothing that will be comfortable for you during day-long sessions, whether that’s sweat pants or a suit. You will be sitting for most of the time although we will provide regular breaks. Comfort is key!
